For those who have limited time but want to see a completely different part of Australia, a trip to Cairns, and the Great Barrier Reef is an ideal choice. We travel from wintertime in Melbourne to the warm waters and climate of Cairns. Our time includes a visit the Outer Great Barrier Reef, one of the world’s most popular snorkeling and diving sites, and the ancient tropical rainforests of the Daintree National Park.

Thurs., - June 1: - Melbourne/Cairns: Our adventure begins as we fly to Trinity Bay and the city of Cairns, which is the launching point for the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef. Our accommodations are at the Pacific Hotel Cairns, which include daily breakfasts.
Fri., June 2 - Cairns: Bring your swimwear, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen as we take an all-day trip out to the outer banks of the Great Barrier Reef. Our destination is an all-weather marine platform, that caters to all activity levels. Snorkel in the sheltered coral lagoon, scuba dive at your own expense, or enjoy the reef from the semi- submersible reef viewer, glass bottom boat and underwater observatory. Lunch will be provided on the diving platform. Upon our arrival back in Cairns this evening is free for individual enjoyment.
Sat., June 3 - Cairns: Today, we visit another World Heritage treasure, the tropical rainforests of the Daintree National Park. The Kuranda Scenic Rail gives us a leisurely trip through dense tropical forests, past majestic waterfalls and over great ravines. We stop at Rainforestation to board an Amphibious Army Duck that will take us through the rainforest to learn about its ecosystem. Lunch is included as a tour service before visiting the Pamagirri Aboriginal Cultural Center to explore the Aboriginal culture. We stop at Kuranda village to enjoy a walkabout before boarding the world's largest gondola cableway. This evening is free to enjoy the wonderful local restaurants featuring the famous Morton Bay bugs!
