Immunization Plus Days
Nigeria

April 17-27, 2010

Sat., April 17 - Depart from U.S. on Northwest/KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ flights to Amsterdam.

 Sun., April 18 - Arrive in Amsterdam:  Transfer to our accommodations at the Convent Hotel Amsterdam.  There are no scheduled programs today so that you can rest before we continue our journey tomorrow, or you can explore this charming city on your own. Our hotel is ideally located in the heart of the city. 

 Mon., April 19 – Amsterdam/Abuja:  Morning airport transfer for our flight to Abuja, Nigeria.  Upon arrival, we transfer to our accommodations at the first class Rockview Hotel, which includes daily breakfasts.

 Tue., April 20 – Abuja:  Morning city sightseeing program.  Lunch provided.  This afternoon, we will receive a briefing from U.S. Embassy officials and an update on polio eradication by the Rotary and Nigerian government representatives.  This evening, we enjoy a special reception arranged by the local Rotarians to welcome us to Nigeria.

 Wed., April 21 – Abuja:  Today, we will be paired with the Abuja Rotary clubs to visit the local communities, see their humanitarian projects and get a better understanding of the communities of Nigeria. This evening, we will enjoy Home Hospitality offered by the local Rotarians.

 Thu., April 22 – Abuja/Kaduna and Kano:   Morning transfer to Kaduna. Lunch provided upon arrival.  After lunch, half the group will continue on to Kano, and the other half of the group will remain in Kaduna.  From this point forward, until our departure from Nigeria, one group will remain in Kaduna, while the other will stay in Kano.  This will allow each group the opportunity to have a better, more engaged experience.  It will also allow us a more individual immunization experience.   Accommodations and daily breakfasts will be provide at the Asaa Pyramid Hotel in Kaduna and Prince Hotel in Kano.  Dinner provided as a tour service this evening.

 Fri., April 23 –  Kaduna/Kano:  Today, each group will explore the local communities and humanitarian projects of each city.  They may also engage in activities in preparation for the polio immunization exercises.  Lunch and dinner are provided.

 Sat., April 24 –  Immunization Plus Day 1:  The next three days will be the heart of our trip, as we will participate in the IPDs (Immunization Plus Days).  Together, with the Nigerian Rotarians, we will be in the field engaged in eradication efforts.   Lunch provided by our local hosts.  Free evening.

 Sun., April 25 –  Immunization Plus Day 2:  Today, we continue participating in the polio immunization activities.  Lunch provided.  This evening, we enjoy a celebration dinner with the local Rotarians. 

 Mon., April 26 – Immunization Plus Day 3/Depart for Home:  This morning, we will engage in Day 3 of our immunization.  Lunch is provided by local hosts.  The Kaduna group will travel to Kano.  Evening departure on KLM flight to Amsterdam.

 Tue., April 27 - Amsterdam/U.S: Early morning arrival in Amsterdam to connect with a nonstop KLM flight to the U.S.
