Thu., May 23 – Cross the International Dateline:
Fri., May 24 – Arrive Singapore: You arrive a day before the Rotary Convention activities begin. Registration, hotel accommodations and transfers to the convention hotels are not included in the tour price.
Sat., May 25 – Wed., May 29 - Singapore: Attend the Rotary International Convention. No Howard Tours’ events are scheduled in deference to the Rotary Convention activities.
Thu., May 30 – Singapore/Osaka: This afternoon, depart on a Singapore Airlines group flight to Osaka, Japan. Upon our evening arrival, we will transfer to our accommodations at the Hotel Nikko Osaka, which include daily breakfasts.
Fri., May 31 – Osaka: This morning, we begin our exploration of Osaka, including visits to Himeji Castle, a UNESCO world heritage site, followed by a walk through the beautifully manicured Japanese garden at Kokoen Gardens. The afternoon is free so you can explore this vibrant city. This evening we will enjoy a welcome dinner.
Sat., June 01 – Osaka/Kyoto: We depart Osaka and travel to Nara, Japan’s 8th century capital; sightseeing includes visits to the Deer Park, and Kasuga Taisha shrine. Lunch is provided, after which we continue to the ancient city of Kyoto for sightseeing at the Heian Shrine, before arriving at our accommodations at the Hotel Okura Kyoto, which includes daily breakfasts.
Sun., June 02 – Kyoto: Kyoto is the fabled former capital of Japan, noted for its imperial palaces, Shinto shrines, Buddhist temples, and traditional wooden houses. This morning’s city sightseeing includes Kinkakuji Temple, Nijo Castle, built by the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate, and Nishiki Market, etc. Afternoon free.
Mon., June 03 – Kyoto/Hakone: This morning’s city sightseeing includes the Sanjusangen-do Temple and Kiyomizu, which is the veranda of the Temple’s Main Hall offering an amazing view of Kyoto. This afternoon, we board a Shinkansen bullet train bound for Odawara and Lake Hakone. Traditional bento box lunch onboard the train. Lake Hakone is a special, precious place with magnificent views and traditional Japanese hotels. Our accommodations are at the Prince Hakone Ashinoko Hotel, which includes tonight’s dinner and tomorrow’s breakfast. This evening, you can enjoy a traditional “onsen,” which are baths that use mineral water from the naturally heated hot springs.
Tue., June 04 – Hakone/Tokyo: All day sightseeing en route to Tokyo including a boat cruise on Lake Hakone and a cable car ride to the top of Mt. Komagatake for a magnificent view of the surroundings, including on a clear day, Mt. Fuji. Lunch is provided as a tour service, before we continue our travels to Tokyo. Our accommodations are at the Keio Plaza Hotel, which includes daily breakfasts.
Wed., June 05 – Tokyo: Today’s all-day sightseeing takes us to Kamakura to witness the Great Buddha, a national treasurer, Kasedera temple, and the historical Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, etc. Lunch provided.
Thu., June 06 – Tokyo: This morning’s city sightseeing includes visits to the Tokyo Tower, Imperial Palace Plaza, and the Meiji Shrine. This afternoon and evening are free for your to explore Tokyo’s shopping, exciting street life, and famous restaurants.
Fri., June 07 – Tokyo: Today’s all-day sightseeing takes us to Nikko, to visit Toshogu Shrine complex, Lake Chuzenji, a stunning scenic lake, and Kegon Waterfalls. Lunch is provided before we return to Tokyo.
Sat., June 08 – Tokyo: Our final day of sightseeing includes Kamarikyu Garden, a boat cruise on the Sumida River, a visit to Asakusa Kannon Temple, etc. This afternoon is free for final shopping and exploration. This evening, we will gather for a farewell dinner.
Sun., June 09 – Tokyo/Depart for Home: Today, our visit to Japan ends as we provide a motorcoach transfer for our members departing on our Singapore Airlines group flight.
